Running

A common denominator among college students, staying in shape during these four (possibly five) years can be a difficult task. Thankfully, the running path on the north side of campus, just above the library, is the perfect setting to try and lose those freshman fifteen. The path, over a mile long, weaves in and out of groves of trees and is a real oasis within the Trinity University Campus. The past few days, I have found that the best way to start my day is with a short jog on the running path. Not only does it get exercising out of the way while it is still cool out, but it also allows a person to ponder the different things going on in ones life. Running on the path allows me to stay in shape as well as centering me before a busy day. In fact, I would argue that going to the running path in the morning is more beneficial for its therapeutic properties then its physical. Ultimately, running in the morning has become a part of my daily routine and is something that I would recommend to anyone not only to stay in shape but also just to clear one's head. Check it out.

Weekly Daytime Activities

                                                      Racket

Upon deciding to not play football my sophmore year of college, I have found my days suddenly open to do and try new and different things. To fill my time, I picked up racquetball. On the second floor of the Bell Center, across the hall from the upstairs weight room, there is a small desk with a bunch of what look like miniature tennis rackets hanging on the wall. Grab a racket and a ball and your set to play. Behind the weight room, there are 7 full sized racquetball courts. If you are complete beginner, as I was, people on the courts are generally very friendly and will help to teach you the game. If that is not enough, the people working behind the desk are also more than happy to help you learn and improve your game through advise and classes that can be taken. In terms of activities that students can partake in during the week, racquetball is a great option both for the social and physical activity. Make sure when you go to play, however, it is later in the afternoon because from 1-3 o'clock, the courts get pretty crowded during the week.
